A team that featured senior players Terry Fair, Michael Hunt and future N.B.A. All Star, Jeff Malone.

After winning the 1977-78 State Championship, Southwest was once again expected to win another title, this time at the newly classified AAAA level. With a schedule that included the Florida and Tennessee State Champs, Oak Hill Academy of Virginia, St. John’s Military Prep School of Washington, D.C. and Baylor Prep out of Chattanooga, Tennessee, these young Patriots were primed for real success. But first they would have to endure marathon practice sessions, fundamental drills that seemingly lasted forever and a mentor who suffered no fools.

But even more compelling was the fact that our biggest rival, Northeast High School, was just across the river in our hometown of Macon, Georgia. The games between Southwest and Northeast are legend and lore in Georgia sports history. Playing in the Macon Coliseum, these games were sold out hours in advance.

Eventually, both teams advanced to the State Championship game. With one team poised to claim their destiny and another standing in the way, this game met and exceeded all expectations. “Duck’s Boys” is a MUST READ for coaches, players and fans at every level.

Another great American sports story!!

I enjoyed this book immensely......so much I could not put it down. If you like great sports stories such as "Miracle", "Remember The Titans", "Glory Road" or even "Hoosiers" then you have to get "Duck's Boys...." I would have loved to have been present in those packed gyms watching those entertaining warm up drills and the dominant performances by those nasty Patrtiots. Henry Goss does an excellent job taking you into the person of Duck Richardson who was a tough and driven coach, and was clearly the Da vinci of a once in a lifetime piece of artwork....the Southwest Macon Patriots.

If you like great sports story then no doubt you have to add this to your collection.

I was a manager for Southwest High School during all three years and I fully recommend this loving tribute to our team. I attended every practice and every game during that time span and still draw on those experiences to this very day. These were the best times of my life and still maintain an association with so many of the players and their families. Great job Henry and continued success. I want my signed copy of the book.

Amazing First-Hand Account.

I graduated from Southwest in 1988. I saw the banners, read the names, and heard some of the stories. Closer to home...my brother-in-law played on this team! Reading this book puts you there, in 1978, in the gym...at Duck's practices. It also puts you in the game...when the chips were down...with the National Championship season on the line. It's a great first-hand account detailing the commitment, sacrifice, and skill required to acheive true greatness...immortality. Duck was a rare genius who demanded the best and lead his players to acheive their dreams. I remember that ESPN published an article a few years back calling this the best high school team ever! These Macon kids played the best and beat the best. It would be great if someone would finally publish (youtube) some video footage of this amazing team.This story should be developed into a documentary or movie to further share this awesome story with the world. Even though Duck and Coach Hudson have passed, many of these great and talented men are still around to share their stories. Please read and enjoy. "Fire It Up Southwest".

    Mistake in inventory

    I was told there was a mistake in inventory number, thus when I purchased this book, actually it was out of stock. And then Amazon told me this illusionary book had been shipped.

    The seller apologized immediately through amazon refund and refunded in full. But I wish he could notice me by an e-mail or a pop-up window message, then I would not wait in vain for nearly 3 weeks and had to borrow it from the library every 2 hours.

    The book is great itself.

    This was really helpful for intro to fed tax and corporations. The author provides clear explanations of how various business mechanisms operate and why they are significant in a legal context. Chapter also include some background history, analysis of rules& regs, and discussion of major corporations cases. One of the most worthwhile supplements I've purchased, I highly recommend it for anyone taking business law classes who doesn't have a business/accounting background.

    Great for law student not well versed in financial topics

    I used this to bone up on the various corporate and financial law topics I needed to know for my Nonprofit Law course and for the bar exam. It is well written and very informative. I wish I had read this book prior to taking Contracts Law my 1L year - would have gotten way more out of that class.

His commercial airline experience included 23 years as a management pilot serving as Instructor Pilot, Check Airman, Flight Manager, Manager of Pilots, Director of Pilot Development, Staff Vice President of Safety & Engineering, and Staff Vice President of Training for TWA, and most recently as an Aviation Consultant.

    Practical and interesting

    I am a senior flight student at a university and had to purchase this book for a class. Though I do not work in an airline, I found the book gave very practical, useful advice throughout. The book gave clear discussion of a number of pertinent topics including judgment skills, pilot responsibilities, CRM, communication, and human error. Many chapters include interesting accounts of real incidents or accidents that tie in well to the topic. Each chapter ends with a short scenario that ties in with the chapter topic and a short discussion of some options that I found really made me think about the topic.

    Overall, I really liked the book and found it to be an easy read. I recommend it to aspiring captains and even those who just want to know more about a multi-crew cockpit.

    Wide but can be deeper

    To start with there aren't many book specifically catered for command preparation. It can be said that the book covers a fairly wide and comprehensicve range of relevant topics but it will be more ideal if the topics are explored further and deeper. Good for introductory and hopefully inspiring other books of similiar topics to follow.

    Useful book. Concrete examples in many situations that can occur in flight operations, giving a 360-degree view of the decision-making process by the crew and finally the commander.
    If used in conjunction with other great publications it is certainly a very useful tool to prepare for the command course.

    Following the precepts of dentist-nutritionist Weston Price, McGruther has developed a system for healthy eating based on lots of vegetables and grains as cooked and preserved on early twentieth-century American farms. What differentiates McGruther’s approach from other regimens is her unabashed advocacy of animal fats. She is especially fond of cooking foods in lard, noting its fat-content profile’s similarity to that of olive oil. When sweetness is an object, McGruther suggests replacing refined sugar with honey, molasses, sorghum, or maple syrup. Bread recipes specify ancient grains such as einkorn, and leavening comes from sourdough. She favors making one’s own butter when possible, and she recommends drinking that by-product of churning: buttermilk. Her meat dishes will satisfy carnivores, whether with a rich rabbit pie studded with bacon and chanterelles or with a rare-roasted elk steak. McGruther advocates sustainable agriculture, and she enthusiastically preserves summer’s bounty through fermentation for pickles, sauerkraut, and relishes. --Mark Knoblauch

    JENNIFER MCGRUTHER is a food educator and the author and creator of the award-winning traditional foods website, Nourished Kitchen (www.nourishedkitchen.com). She teaches workshops on traditional foods, fermentation, and food activism. Jennifer lives with her husband and son in the central mountains of Colorado where she and her husband started and managed a farmers market for seven years.     Get back into making traditional foods with this book!

    Jennifer McGruther has completely won me over with this wonderful book. I regularly make my family's dinners using this cookbook for inspiration. Additionally, my mother and my best friend have also purchased this cookbook after coming to my home for dinners and being blown away by the food. "Don't thank me" I say, "thank Ms. McGruther. They are her recipes."

    My husband is over-joyed when he comes home from work and he hears that I have made McGruther's meatloaf, her chicken liver pâté or her creamy and oh so satisfying oyster soup. "What a wonderful surprise," he says with a big smile. At any given time I have a Jennifer McGruther project going on. Bone broth simmering on my stove, homemade yogurt pleasantly souring in my stove heated by only the oven light, and right now, I have her sauerkraut fermenting in a gallon-size glass jug on my counter top.

    Thank you, Jennifer! Traditional foods have never tasted so good or have been so easy.

    We've liked this cookbook as a whole

    We've liked this cookbook as a whole, but I have to give a negative review due to multiple recipes appearing to be incorrect. My wife just had to throw away hours of work after trying to make the Sweet Spiced Buns with Currants, because it calls for, yes, a total of 7 cups of flour, and no liquid to hold it together (save for a very small amount of sourdough starter). How the heck are we supposed to form this into dough when it's as dry as dirt?! It's very aggravating to waste one's time on an extensive recipe. For such a beautiful cookbook, one would think that she'd have double checked her recipes.

    This is a beautifully done book. I love the guidelines used with reference to Dr. Weston Price. I'm glad to see old fashion is coming back into fashion. The pictures are beautifully and artfully done. It inspires you to try a little harder to make life better. We need this in our world today where everything is fast, easy and unhealthy. I preordered this book and am now ready to improve by life by starting to use it. Thank you for the time spent to produce this and offer it to the public.
