I commend the authors! I appreciate them for this book. I listen to music with a broader understanding now, allowing me to fully appreciate what I hear and why.

Forensic computing is becoming of primary importance as computers increasingly figure as sources of evidence in all sorts of criminal investigations. However, in order for such evidence to be legally useful, it is vital that it be collected and processed according to rigorous principles.

In the second edition of this very successful book, Tony Sammes and Brian Jenkinson show how information held in computer systems can be recovered when it has been hidden or subverted by criminals, and give the reader the means to insure that it is accepted as admissible evidence in court. Updated to fall in line with ACPO 2003 guidelines, "Forensic Computing: A Practitioner's Guide" is illustrated with plenty of case studies and worked examples, and will help practitioners and students gain a clear understanding in:

* The principles involved in password protection and data encryption
* The evaluation procedures used in circumventing a system’s internal security safeguards
* Full search and seizure protocols for experts and police officers.

The new volume not only discusses the new file system technologies brought in by Windows XP and 2000 but now also considers modern fast drives, new encryption technologies, the practicalities of "live" analysis, and the problems inherent in examining personal organisers.

Tony Sammes is Professor of Forensic Computing at Cranfield University and the Director of the Centre for Forensic Computing based at the Defence Academy in Shrivenham. His department has been more or less solely responsible for training and educating senior law enforcement officers in the UK in the art of forensic computing. His testimony as an expert witness has been called in a variety of cases, some of national importance.

Brian Jenkinson is a retired Detective Inspector, formally Head of the Cambridgeshire Constabulary Fraud Squad. He is now an independent Forensic Computer Consultant and is also closely involved in teaching to both law enforcement and commercial practitioners. He was appointed Visiting Professor for Forensic Computing in 2002 at Cranfield University and the Defence Academy.

About the Author

Until 1984, Professor A. J. Sammes was a serving British Army Officer with the rank of Colonel, late of the Royal Corps of Signals. His present appointment is Professor of Computing Science, in the Faculty of Military Science, Technology and Management at the Defense Academy, Cranfield University, Shrivenham.

His formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, a Master of Philosophy in Computer Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science, all degrees having been awarded by the University of London. He is also a Fellow of the British Computer Society and a Chartered Engineer.

His department has been more or less solely responsible for training senior police officers in the UK in the art of forensic computing. His testimony as an expert witness has been called in countless cases, of some of great national importance.

A beginners guide

If you are new to the Forensic game then this book might make good reading. A large portion of the book is on disk and data structure & geometry. This makes for interesting reading if you have not covered this before, but if you are an investigator, this will be 'old' and somewhat irrelevant news.
Chapters include information on;
* PDA/Electronic Organisers,
* Search and seizure of PC's
* A little on Network and encryption (informational reading only).
Overall, not a book I would recommend for someone who has "been there, done that". From each book I read I expect find a little bit of information that is new to me, but unfortunately I went hungry on this one! I probably wouldn't call it a 'Practitioners Guide', but more of a 'beginners guide'.

In-depth look at NTFS

This book covers NTFS at the byte level. It has tables and explanations that extremely useful for a course I was taking. I purchased most of the computer forensic books available but all the other books contained mere summaries of NTFS. This volume covers the nuts and bolts. Excellent book, need more like this.

Classic Nicole Jordan

This book was really good. It's one of Jordan's earliest pieces and this was reflected in the content of the book. However, this in no way takes away from how great the book was. The characters were likeable and fun to read about.
I especially liked the male hero, Raith. His character was developed so well and I was there with him every step he took. The emotional intensity and feelings between the main characters was electric. I reccommend this book. Buy it!

Not high on my list

Nothing irritates me any more than for the lead characters to constantly be pecking one another. Anger at one another, deliberately ignoring the fact that the other person (on both sides) has answered questions, made efforts, etc. How dumb can people be? I don't read books to be annoyed with the people I am supposed to admire. Why can they not joint together to fight an outside force? The premise is beyond irritating. I read this one because I really enjoyed the last book by Nicole Jordan and am so disappointed by this one. It did end well, and I did manage not to throw my Kindle across the room, but only barely!!!!!~

Enjoyed it! Bought and read in one day

I have read books by this author before, so her writing style is familiar. I enjoyed this book, read it in one day. It was .99 cents, and worth much more. This is a substantial story, not a short cheap read.

I liked the main characters, and how they slowly fell together. I also liked the secondary characters, and their relationships. I also have to say that i was so happy to see an epilogue. The ending was worth it.

If I had any dislikes, they were minor. I didn't give it 5 stars because I wish the main characters had spent a little more time together and had more conversations. The realization that they loved each other was a bit fast. Still, it wasn't so fast that it ruined the story like so many I have read.

I'm pretty picky about my authors, but I have never found one by this author that I didn't like. I recommend
this book for anyone who likes historical romance. For this price, you can't beat it.

Recipes so delicious, your mind will be blown, and your taste buds will be blown away!

Vegan Richa's Indian Kitchen fulfills every vegan foodie's fantasy for all the sensuously spicy sapidity great Indian food delivers. With a range of spices and seasonings as vast as the subcontinent itself, it's no easy task to combine them in the perfect balance needed to create the complex flavors and textures that are the hallmarks of Indian cuisine. An entire book filled with delectable vegan recipes that are not only exotically rich and flavorful, but also simple to prepare, is nothing less than a gastronomic achievement.

Not only is Richa a culinary force to be reckoned with, she's become quite the talented food stylist and photographer, as well. If the gorgeous full-color photos in this book don't make you want to run to the kitchen and start cooking, I don't know what will. The biggest dilemma for me was that I wanted to make ALL the dishes immediately. I still can't look at any of the photos in this book without salivating.

In addition to all the mouthwatering recipes for breakfast, small snacks, side dishes, dals, one-pot meals, mains dishes, desserts, and flatbreads, you'll find recipes for making your own chutneys and spice blends, as well as resources for buying ingredients online and in brick-and-mortar stores. There's also an exploration into the many cuisines of India, and as an added bonus, recipes are indexed by region. (Just in case you want to create an authentic Punjabi or Kashmiri meal.) Amazingly delicious recipes!

This cookbook is amazing. The book itself is lovely. It's a nice size with lots of pictures, which is really important to me. I like to know what something is supposed to look like. Recipes are detailed and easy to follow, and amounts for vegetables are always given in number of vegetables and approximately how many cups that should be. There are very few specialty ingredients used, and the ones that are used are all pantry friendly so you can stock up. You won't need frequent trips to the Indian market or frequent online orders from specialty stores.

The recipes always come out amazing, but I definitely have some favorites. The South Indian Tofu Scramble will make you fall in love with tofu scrambles. I generally don't like them and find most boring and under seasoned. This one is different, and flavorful, and I just want to eat it all the time. The kidney bean curry is delicious and easy. I love the entire one pot meal chapter, and love that the meals use a lot of vegetables, but my favorite from that chapter is yellow lentil rice and chard. It comes together fairly quickly and covers all of the flavors from spicy to sweet. It also makes great leftovers. Rainbow chard and peas in a creamy sauce just hits the comfort food craving for me. I love the puffy naan, but since unsweetened vegan yogurt can be hard to find sometimes, I really appreciate the avocado naan recipe. It doesn't taste of avocado, but is just a really great accompaniment to other dishes made with ingredients I can find anywhere.

This book has all of my restaurant favorites, and a ton of dishes I had never heard of. My biggest piece of advice is to be adventurous and try all of the recipes because some of my favorites have been the ones that, rather than mimicking dishes I am familiar with, were flavors I never imagined.

I promised myself that I was NOT going to buy this book. I already own hundreds of vegetarian and vegan cookbooks and the last thing I needed was another cookbook. However, I really like the Vegan Richa blog and once I could virtually "look inside" the book, I realized that the majority of recipes appealed to me.
I received the book a week ago. Here are the recipes I've tried so far: Spicy South Indian Tofu Scramble, Street Style Tempeh Wraps, Mint Cilantro Chile Chutney, Mashed Potato Fritters (baked), Dad's Favorite Cauliflower Potatoes, Tofu in Spinach Curry, and South Indian Chickpea Eggplant Stew. Every recipe was amazing and my husband and I were so impressed with how well the Mashed Potato Fritters turned out. The book is perfect in every way. The recipes are clear, concise, and well organized. The photographs are appetizing and inspiring. Richa gives preparation choices, always allowing you to make recipes low fat and healthy. The flavors are just fabulous. I've owned other vegetarian Indian cookbooks before, but have usually found that the recipes are excessively complicated or just too high fat. I did visit a local Indian grocery store and stock up on recommended spices and ingredients, a small investment that has already paid great dividends! These foods are even better than Indian restaurant foods because they are not heavy, loaded with greasy coconut milk, or fried.
My only problem with this book is that I have to force myself to use my other cookbooks sometimes.

Update: I have had this book for many months now and I've come to the conclusion that this book needs it's own category: cooking magic! The recipes are superb. I have not been disappointed in anything that I have made. An added bonus is that my house smells heavenly whenever I make any of these recipes. Recommended without hesitation.

New Directions has been the primary publisher of Ezra Pound in the U.S. since the founding of the press when James Laughlin published New Directions in Prose and Poetry 1936. Maddeningly Brilliant

A typical sentence: "Anyone who is too lazy to master the comparatively small glossary necessary to understand Chaucer deserves to be shut out from the reading of good books forever."

You may use this quote as a meter for predicting your enjoyment of the book. If you find it amusing and arguable, Pound's ABC of Reading will delight you with its erudite gems. If you are repulsed by the presumption, then give the book a wide berth.

Pound sets a standard for basic literacy that few literature scholars can hope to achieve (including mastery of several languages as a pre-requisite to study). Nonetheless, the book is a treasure trove of brilliant and piquant observations, and is itself an exemplar of the crystaline prose Pound extolled. You would be hard-pressed to find an ostentatious or superflous word in the book's entire 200 briskly-moving pages.

Read this book with a pen in your hand

Read this book with a pen in your hand because you are going to want to underline the dozens of amazing sentences and little paragraphs, as well as scribble complaints and disparaging comments next to the rash and just plain faulty ones.

This book will astonish and anger a thoughtful reader. It is not a coherent essay that moves logically from point to point - it is a jarring, manic kaleidoscope.

Since I am a typical American and only understand one language (English, modern) some of this volume was lost to me - but this book is well worth the time you will spend reading it. Highly recommended for all striving writers and people who would like to read more earnestly.

Rantings of Correctness

Pound was an angry, noisy man whose honesty--and the extent to which the volcano of his personality burns through his prose--is convincing and, when it comes to literature, correct. I can think of no one I'd rather have read anything I've written & say: damn good.
He's dead & that's not going to happen. But we can still get the brash truth about literature, in easy-to-remember pithy comments such as "Literature is news that STAYS news" or comparisons of writing to making a table (don't matter which leg you start with so long as it stands upright when you're done) or to writing a check (the writing of a bad check is a criminal act). He also tells us why, say, Milton was a lousy poet & Homer a great one.
The all-embracing, subjective, if-someone-likes-it-then-it's-good parts of us will reel against some of Pound's fascistic judgements, but the arbiter of taste in each of us, the madman or woman who fumes at how ad. copy is deadening our linguistic nerves, will stand proud at owning, reading, & quoting--often--The ABC of Reading.

About the Author

Daniel J. Monti, Jr. is Professor of Public Policy and Urban Affairs at Saint Louis University.� A graduate of Oberlin College and the University of North Carolina, he is a former Woodrow Wilson Fellow and has written extensively on matters of urban affairs, race and ethnic relations, American civic life, inner-city redevelopment, and youth gangs.� He has been involved in an ongoing study of civic culture as it is expressed in cities across the United States and around the world. His books include Engaging Strangers: Civil Rites, Civic Capitalism, and Public Order in Boston (Fairleigh Dickinson University, 2013),The American City: A Social and Cultural History (Blackwell, 1999), Wannabe: Gangs in Suburbs and Schools (Blackwell, 1994), and Race, Redevelopment, and the New Company Town (SUNY Press, 1990).

Michael Ian Borer is a graduate of Lafayette College and obtained a doctorate in Sociology at Boston University.� He is currently Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the former Vice President of the Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction. Concerned about the dynamics of urban cultures, he is especially interested in the social, emotional, and moral relationships between people and places. His books include Faithful to Fenway: Believing in Boston, Baseball, and America’s Most Beloved Ballpark (NYU Press, 2008) and Varieties of Urban Experience: The American City and the Practice of Culture (University of American Press, 2006).

Lyn C. Macgregor received her undergraduate degree at Boston University and a doctorate in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is currently the Associate Director of the Robert F. and Jean E. Holtz Center for Science at Technology Studies there. She specializes in the sociology of culture, communities, and consumption, with a focus on the building of social ties and social networks. She is the author of Habits of the Heartland (2010).
